The College of Science at Al-Mustansiriyah University held its First Edition of their own Conference International Conference on Modern Trends in Information Technology, in collaboration with the IEEE, a prestigious organization renowned for publishing research in highly ranked international journals indexed in Scopus. In his opening remarks, Professor Dr. Hamid Fadel Al-Tamimi, President of Al-Mustansiriyah University, addressed the conference—attended by the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Diaa Al-Hassani, the Dean of the College of Education, along with numerous researchers and presidents of various public, private, and Arab universities—emphasizing that this conference is among the most important and dynamic scientific events. He noted that in today’s world, the rapid advances in information warfare and computer technologies hold critical importance across all scientific, academic, and practical fields, particularly in light of the swift developments taking place in the country. He affirmed that Al-Mustansiriyah University takes pride in its strong scientific standing and research output, and highlighted the significance of holding this conference in collaboration with a reputable academic institution like IEEE. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that scientific research directly benefits society. For his part, Professor Dr. Mohammed Faraj, Dean of the College of Science, stated that the college is committed to organizing specialized international conferences to create a productive scientific environment for researchers to publish their work in leading global journals. This, he explained, helps increase their research profile as well as that of their universities, particularly through applied research that benefits society. He pointed out that the conference provides an excellent opportunity for researchers from Iraq and abroad to exchange expertise, ideas, and information in their fields of specialization. He underscored the event’s role in highlighting the significance of this branch of science and its vital technologies.
The conference covered key topics including cybersecurity, multimedia, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, smart cities, computer networks, cloud computing, and software engineering.
